Vanessa Louise Jones was born in England in 1976 and immigrated to Australia at the age of three. As a young adult, living in sunny Queensland, she persued her interests in lens-based art, completing a BA in Photography at the Queensland College of Art in 1999. Interested in re-discovering her roots, Vanessa moved back to England where she completed an MA in Photography, at Brighton University, in 2008. As a result of her studies in Brighton, she now resides in the seaside city and presently works as a Gallery manager. Vanessa has developed a style of photography, which mainly focuses on the notion of self-portraiture, investigating the authentic self, and also evolving around the notions of mimesis, the simulacral self and the loss of personal identity.
